Lately we have seen eyewitness video of the abuse that the Syrian People have taken for voicing there opinion on their government. The way the government has handled the uprising has been with violence. Killing men, woman, and children.
Here is an account from a man named Abdel Nasr Zayed, "I have lost 11 already and now I am willing to sacrifice everything for God." (From www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-16984219)
If you continue to read the article you hear how he describes the death of his 11 family members. These brutalities are not happening to some people, it's happening to most Syrians. They describe how they lost family members, seen military brutality, and other horrors that the world should not have to see and hear about now in this age again.
The Holocaust had a lesson, and what did the international community learn, that these human atrocities should not happen, and we can stop them with the help of the whole international community.
But what has the international community done, they have just sent officials to see what has been happening, and when the people complain, they listen and do nothing.
This is from February 23, 2012. I know this is old, but there is a point. Quote from the great article written from thejournal.ie, "THE UN IS to send one of its top officials to Syria to assess the humanitarian situation...move comes a day after at least 19 people, including two western journalists, were killed." So the UN sends a top official after 19 people are killed, and two western journalists. While in the meantime hundreds of people have died, but they waited until at least a person from the West dies.
International support has been minimal for the Syrian people. Everyday more and more die, and what do we do; we just send international officers to check it out, and then we say that "this is some bad s**t." Yet we have the power to stop this with our most powerful weapon. And NO it is not a nuclear weapon, but the power for human beings to come together and achieve any goal they desire, for good or evil. And sadly to say, more evil is being done.
I hope you guys will respond to this, please be careful about what language you use.
***Sorry for not citing the sources the proper way, I will try to do a better job next-time.
